The Knife separated in 2014, and 2014 was 10 years ago. All good? Excellent, for it’s time for your 11-minute-long song. This is an extremely ambitious song that feels like an opera, taking you through the history of Earth and its creatures (mainly its birds). If that doesn’t make you want to listen to it, then I can’t help you.

Since this article is posted on a Sunday, it means it’s the end of the first week of January. Does that mean it’s the end of the beginning already? Anyway, I’ve been loving this song for a few weeks now, I wish I was all alone with seas. That’s the New Year spirit.

Getting back on track, this week I’d like to share with you a cool project. Edison Gómez-Krauss is a musician who composes and records his synthpop tracks live on Twitch to show that, with a computer, anyone can make music. Bide is kind of a modern-day Frankly, Mr.Shankly by The Smiths. I feel like neither party would like this comparison, but hey, it’s my website.

I’m behind on my recommendations. Sorry, September Mayhem, you know the drill… Since it’s still back to school season, I’m feeling like revisiting some high-school “misfits” feelings, and luckily, Life Tears (the strange) by Razorhouse is just perfect for that. It’s not very subtle, but it sure is effective.

It’s the first week of September, and it’s still unbelievably warm in the world. The only positive thing about that is that you can still listen to folk and hazy pop like the one that Being Dead, a Texas-based trio, has graced us with on their latest and first full-length album, When Horses Would Run. A trip through a hazy desert filled with televisions and wild horses.

This week I stumbled upon an archive of mash-ups from 2002-2004 made by a guy known simply as Gordyboy. He was relatively famous in the UK mash-up scene at the beginning of the 2000s. His work is not on Youtube, so you’ll have to follow a nice link on Internet Archive for this one…
And it’s not any mash-up; it’s the 90’s hit “This Is Hardcore” by Pulp mixed with another hit, “Driving” by Everything But The Girl.

Keep this one for your bedtime routine, doctor’s order. This song works best just before bed, when the spell of dreamy indie pop works wonders and in a haze you can be a high schooler who just got broken up with.

Who loves the sun ? These past weeks I’ve been promoting summer songs on here and dreaming of sunny beaches and deserts but I think it’s time to get a lil’ wetter and a lil’ darker. This is a great night song, hence the name, and it’s a lil’ spooky like a ghost train

I don’t know about you but these days I only want to listen to music that feels like a friendly yet sad computer made it and I Don’t Want It Darker by the german duo AUA is exactly that. How and when did the machine get the blues ? Are you ok, computer ?
